Algunas preguntas están cambiando… proposes a collective approach to the affective conditions of research and creative processes. Through 6 sessions, during June and July, we will explore those ambiguous spaces and times in which knowledge production, regardless of its formalization, is affected by its context, whether it is the studio, a wool carding encounter or the silence of our desk. Questioning the academicism that legitimizes an objective and detached methodology, this seminar proposes the circulation of a plastic, processual and dispersed theory, understood in itself as a practice.  

Everything we do while we investigate, and especially how we do it, is determinant; everything is susceptible to being modified by whatever it touches. Thought is slowly shaped through multiple and ambiguous processes of contamination which, in many cases, escape the formal limits we grant it. Its production is neither aseptic nor neutral: it is necessarily political. Not in relation to a specific statement, but to its inscription in a series of logics linked to ～material, economic, emotional～ issues that are political over the ambitions of a critical discourse. At the end, the conditions of production anchor theory to a particular political scenario.

We will start from our personal relationship with our research ～that what links us to our subject matter～ in order to analyze the neoliberal mechanisms of knowledge. Challenging the notion of critical distance, inherited from the scientific paradigm, we will propose a type of knowledge that is implicated, engaged. We will also navigate a theoretical toolbox applicable to different formats of thought and creation, focusing on the liminal spaces we occupy when we develop our work. Through a writing session, we will address the performative possibility of language, questioning its institutionalizing function within and beyond the framework of contemporary art. And finally, we will assemble the materials displayed throughout the sessions, in order to reflect together on the conditions of possibility and the contradictions of a methodological queering.  

This seminar is oriented to anyone interested in rethinking their ways of doing ～regardless of their discipline, research area or professional profile～, whose practice could be enriched from a series of materials and approaches based on the consideration of affect as a working force <3

BIOGRAPHY

Lucía Millet (Jávea, 1996) is a writer and researcher. Her work is located in theoretical-practical spaces and at the crossroads between new materialisms, theories of affect and queer studies, as places from which to rethink our ways of doing. After studying Art History (UAM), she completed a master's degree in Performing Arts Practice and a master's degree in Contemporary Art History and Visual Culture at the Reina Sofía Museum, specializing in art theory and criticism. In 2020, she co-founded the Instituto de Estudios Postnaturales with which she currently collaborates, together with Lucía Ugena, through her collective Composting Fields: an editing and curatorial project that proposes an experimental format of knowledge production whose aim is to connect and give visibility to young thinkers and artists.
