We inaugurated the exhibition "Bᴀ lasᴏ ᴇʟ Asꜰᴀʟᴛᴏ ᴇsᴛᴀ ʟᴀ Hᴜᴇʀᴛᴀ- BAH : 25 years of periurban agriculture" in the Campo Indentro space in Madrid, CAR. BAH was a pioneering initiative that introduced agroecology into the self-management and occupation movement in the late 1990s, promoting a unified cooperative model that defined aspects consumer group networks have introduced in subsequent years. Through different creative maneuvers, actions and experimental formats (subscription bonds, scattered seedlings, or the first urban guerrilla orchard in Madrid) and the occupation of public lands in the year 2000, from an initial collective of 5 people came to create different cooperatives, working until hoy. In this exhibition we gather archive materials that deal with aspects of internal organization and public communication, project vision from its original members and press of the moment. The sample is curated by Claudia Sanchez Mantero, who in her research titled "The city at stake." Common architectural trials in Madrid. 1997-2024" analyzes and seeks to recognize practices that challenged conventional ways of urban living by expanding the notion of urban communes.
This exhibition proposes to understand the city as a game board in continuous reconfiguration by these citizen actions that reimagine ways of living (play). In the case of the BAH, the city overflows and connects with periurban agriculture.
It features a program of round tables, as well as a limited edition of graphic materials to support the BAH, renewing the commitment of Campo Inside with the cooperative - members of the project were in the initial group of workers of the BAH and promoted a first attempt of the Center Rural Approach Social 2002 in Prosperity Neighborhood. BAH was also invited to the exhibition "From Direct Action as one of the Fine Arts" MACBA 2002. BAH would be one of the first proposed art and political ecology in the E. Spanish, in exchange with Guerrilla Gardening (John Jordan et al. ) in the UK.
